The "Unione degli Industriali della Provincia di Varese" is the local branch of Confindustria.
Confindustria system is the most important Italian entrepreneurial association, with more than 144 190 member companies employing about 5 400 000 employees.
The "Unione degli Industriali della Provincia di Varese" is the territorial association of the Province of Varese.
MEMBER COMPANIES
The "Unione degli Industriali della Provincia di Varese" has about 1.400 member companies, employing more than 71.000 employees.
Member companies range from the micro to small, medium sized and large enterprises: 90% of companies has an average of 100 employees. Members include subsidiaries of multinational based in the province of Varese.
All sector of the manufacturing system are represented. The most important specialisations are:
- textile and clothing: dying and finishing, knitwear, embroidery, weaving, clothes and fashion product;
- mechanical sector: aeronautical, machine tool, forge, electrical appliance, weighing instrument, precision tool, motorcycle, etc;
- plastic manufacture: calendar product, plastic film, etc;
- chemical and pharmaceutical sector;
- publishing and paper;
- food and beverage.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
The "Unione degli Industriali della Provincia di Varese" represents the companies of the Province of Varese at local, provincial, regional and national level for all industrial, social, economic and cultural matters. The purpose is to promote the development and growth of its member companies and the economic system of the province of Varese by: fostering solidarity and collaborative efforts between member companies; assisting and safeguarding the business interests of its member companies at all levels – local, provincial, regional and national; providing assistance on trade union, social, economic and cultural issues and relations. The activities cover two broad areas:
1 - INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS
- coordination of enterprise policies Vs. Trade unions
- labour disputes
- consultancy on labour laws
- participation to renewal of master agreements
- safety at work
2 - ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES
- assistance on tax matters (consultancy and relations with tax office)
- ordinary and special credit facilitation (through banks or collective credit guarantees offered by the credit consortium Confidi)
- assistance on industrial law
- environmental issues (update on environmental laws)
- research innovation and quality
- internationalisation and foreign relations
The "Unione degli Industriali della Provincia di Varese" also maintains contacts with schools and educational system, organises training courses for enterprises, maintains contacts with government offices.
MAIN PROJECTS
To achieve its goal of safeguarding and representing the interests of its member companies, the "Unione degli Industriali della Provincia di Varese" operates through special-purpose companies set up by and part of the Association itself:
SPI - Servizi & Promozioni Industriali S.r.l., a limited company founded to offer the services and promotional needs of the companies; the purpose of SPI S.r.l. is to ensure the maximum reliability and effectiveness of the solutions proposed to companies;
Provex – Consorzio export-import, whose purpose is to support companies in the internationalisation challenges and the opening of new foreign markets. Through Provex, Unione manages an office in Moscow called “PuntoRussia”, set up to assist enterprises seeking to enter the Russian market;
Energi.VA, one of the largest consortium set up to buy energy from Italian sources. Energi.VA currently serves 185 companies whose aggregate consumption of electric power is higher than 600 million Kwh and of methane gas is around 100 million cubic metres;
Espansione, a wholesale company that supplies electricity to industrial, artisan and commercial companies of small, medium and large size, as well as to entities and communities and to all the clients of the liberalised market. Espansione is owned by the Unione degli Industriali della Provincia di Varese, Confindustria Lecco, and Confindustria Alto Milanese, in collaboration with Energy Advisors Srl;
Confidi is part of Confidi Lombardia Societą Cooperativa di Garanzia Collettiva Fidi, which helps companies to access the bank credit system by providing guarantees for the funding amount;
Varese Investimenti S.p.A., a private equity company equipped to support the development and the growth in size of the business fabric of Varese hinterland. Varese Investimenti S.p.A. provides capital to the small and medium-sized local companies through techniques that differ substantially from those used up to now, offering an alternative approach to simple credit access;
Varesefocus is a magazine of economy, policy, society, custom, art and nature of the province of Varese. It is published by the "Unione degli Industriali della Provincia di Varese".
The Universitą Carlo Cattaneo - LIUC, located in Castellanza, was established through the sponsorship of the entepreneurial system of the province of Varese throught a complex project defined by the inputs of eminent figures in the academic, industrial and financial universe. The Unione degli Industriali della Provincia di Varese managed the project. The Universitą Carlo Cattaneo - LIUC has three Faculties: Economics, Engineering and Law.
Lombardy Aerospace Cluster is an integrated system of companies, technological expertises and advanced scientific capabilities at the service of the aerospace industry. The "Unione degli Industriali della Provincia di Varese" is one of the founders of Lombardy Aerospace Cluster.
